Scampi
Scampi is de naam die in België en Nederland gebruikt wordt voor een bereiding van de reuzengarnaal. Meestal worden kreeftachtigen gebruikt van de soort witpootgarnaal (Litopenaeus vannamei), maar ook black tiger of grote tijgergarnaal (Penaeus monodon) en Macrobrachium rosenbergii worden soms gebruikt. Het woord ‘scampi’ heeft niet overal dezelfde betekenis, wat voor heel wat verwarring zorgt. Wat men in België en Nederland scampi noemt, zijn reuzengarnalen uit Zuidoost-Azië.
