Ansjovis

Ansjovis is een straalvinnige vis die wereldwijd te vinden is. De ansjovis is te herkennen aan zijn afgeronde snuit en korte onderkaak en de gemiddelde lengte is 20 centimeter. De ansjovis eet voornamelijk plankton. Vanaf april komt de ansjovis weer naar de kusten van Nederland en België.

Vangstgebied

Ansjovis komt voornamelijk voor in de zuidelijkere wateren van Europa.  Een zeer hoge kwaliteit treft men aan in de wateren bij Spanje, beter gezegd de golf van Biskaje. Ze gebruiken de techniek van pure Seine methode. Ansjovis wordt in Nederland kleinschalig bevist met de weervisserij techniek.  De ansjovis wordt in de Oosterschelde gevangen door de weervissers uit Bergen op zoom.
