Krab (Noordzee)
De Noordzeekrab is een brede krab met acht poten en twee grote scharen. Deze scharen gebruikt de krab om zijn voedsel, zoals kleine schaal- en schelpdieren, te kraken. De krab komt voor in alle Europese wateren. De krab leeft op een diepte van 25 tot 200 meter. Het meeste vlees zit in de poten van de krab. De krabben kunnen levend geleverd worden of de scharen zijn los verkrijgbaar. Ook is er krabvlees verkrijgbaar.

De Noordzee krab bezit relatief weinig vlees en bevindt zich alleen in de geschaarde poten. Vandaar dat meestal de dikke geschaarde poten worden verhandeld.
