De makreel (Scomber scombrus) is een straalvinnige vis uit de orde der baarsachtigen (Perciformes). Deze vis wordt voornamelijk gevangen in de Noordoost-Atlantische oceaan. Het is een gezonde vis vol omega 3 en omega 6 vetten. Makrelen zijn snelle jagers die dicht onder de oppervlakte van het water zwemmen.
